Hi to all you valued supporters and followers of the Cocksy Classic!

Well, we’ve got good news and bad news...
The bad news first… sadly I’ve made the VERY difficult decision to cancel the 2022 Cocksy Classic. Thanks to Covid, there just isn’t enough certainty that things won’t change and with the vaccine pass and safety protocols required, it is just too risky.

This decision has not been made lightly – especially as one of the reasons this started, was for a way to keep in touch and offer emotional and mental support to each other just as Cocksy did for so many of his mates. So, on the back of what has been an enormously difficult and crappy year, and when everyone could probably do with an “ear over a beer”, I ask you all to please make the extra effort to check in on each other and if you’re in Tairua over the summer, flick me a message if you’re keen to say hi and have a yarn.

Now for the good news… actually, the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING NEWS!

Our platinum sponsor, Dayle ITM have made the hugely generous offer to still present their cash donation for 2022 because they didn’t want the kids to miss out! Blair Fraser and the Dayle ITM team really are the guys “to see you right” 😉

Thank you Dayle ITM from the bottom of my heart.

FYI - If I hear that any of you are using another building supplier... I will personally kick your butts!

They and many of our other amazing sponsors have also confirmed their commitment of support for the next event, so it’s full steam ahead & we’ll be back, bigger and better for 2023. It’s reassuring to know the excitement is still there and I look forward to building the event.
Thank you to everyone for your generous support. I hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas and fantastic summer.

In true Cocksy style, this isn't a normal fishing competition.

The event will encompass some of his humorous fishing antics and will include some of his rules, one being, “if you don’t have someone to eat it, then don’t bring it home! No wastage allowed!”

Participants should prepare themselves for a day of fun and humour inspired antics.

Although prizes are included in this event, it should not be the reason you attend. As Cocksy would say, "it's not about what's in it for you mate, it's about what we can raise for the kids". Remember, this is a fishing comp WITH a difference, to MAKE a difference. There will be no overall "individual" winner. In the spirit of the yellow jersey concept, it will be a team that are awarded the coveted “Golden Fleece” for 2022.

Species for the competition are Snapper, Kahawai, Kingi and Crayfish.

Some will be by length and some by mystery weight. Hook and spearfishing are allowed.

Kids aged 14 and under can participate for free in the Kahawai Kids section.

Kids can register

on the day.

There are loads of great prizes, auctions and raffle prizes thanks to our

generous sponsors!

The Trek Kids Charity is a charity with the purpose of helping kiwi kids no matter what their situation. Be it kids with cancer, cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, learning disabilities or kids who may just need a helping hand, Cocksy believed in helping kids in our own back yard first and The Trek does exactly that.
