MEMORIAL CHARITY FISHING COMPETITION
Saturday 6th February 2021

REMEMBERING A LEGEND
Saturday 6th February 2021
It all started from a conversation at Cocksy’s final send off over a beer or three. Many who were there, had never actually
met each other so exchanged stories on how they knew him. Through laughter and tears, we all asked, why is it that
people seem to only catch up at funerals? Something good had to come from this day and we decided
this eclectic bunch of “good buggers” needed a better reason to stay in touch.
That light-bulb moment has now become a fully-fledged charity fishing competition open to anyone.
February 2021 will see the 2nd Cocksy Classic take place in Tairua, Coromandel.
From a reason to stay in touch and connect, to a fishing competition with a purpose, the Cocksy Classic is an event not only about remembering a legend or our mate, it’s about getting people talking & sharing their own stories, it’s a platform of support with the gift of bonding with like minded people, to give back to a worthy charity that Cocksy spent many years supporting.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Trek Kids Charity, formally the Variety Bash.
COMPETITION SPECIES
Snapper
Kahawai
Kingi
Crayfish
Species for the competition are Snapper, Kahawai, Kingi and Crayfish.
Some will be by length and some by mystery weight. Hook and spearfishing are allowed.
Proceeds from this event go towards supporting The Trek Kids Charity
The Trek, formally the Variety Bash, is a charity with the purpose of helping kiwi kids no matter what their situation. Be it kids with cancer, cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, learning disabilities or kids who may just need a helping hand, Cocksy believed in helping kids in our own back yard first and The Trek does exactly that.
